Hi I'm Tilly's dad and glad you have visited our site. I'm absolutely astounded at the response and offers of help from all sorts of people from as far away as Australia!

Debbie, Oliver, myself and Tilly thank you all so much for the support and love you've shown.

Football greats David Beckham and Ronaldinho are giving the shirts off their backs to help a brave little girl walk for the first time.A signed and framed Beckham Real Madrid shirt and a similarly presented Brazil shirt donated by Ronaldinho will be auctioned at Bar West One in Brentwood tomorrow (Thursday, March 8) to raise funds for nine-year-old Tilly Bailey.

Tilly, from Hutton, is one of only 57 known people worldwide to suffer from a genetic condition known as NOMID or CINCA.

A fundraising appeal to send Tilly to America for an operation has reached its short term target of £50,000.

But the need for money is ongoing as it will allow Tilly to continue with six monthly visits to Washington to attend a research programme.

Her father Colin is still making arrangements for Tilly, mum Debbie and brother Oliver, three, to go out to Washington for the surgery.

Tilly has dysplastic hips which are thought to be separate from her main condition. The operation will entail shortening Tilly's hip and leg bones to bring them closer together and enable her to possibly walk unaided.

NOMID stands for neonatal onset multi-inflammatory disease. In Europe the disease is called CINCA or chronic infantile neurologic cutaneous and articular syndrome. It is one of the rarest genetic conditions in the world.

Colin, a procurement manager, said: "Tilly is at home at the moment and back at school.

"She has recently had surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital to inject steroids in her hips because she was in intense pain.

"She is getting over that and there is a bit of red tape to cut through before she can go to America.

"Any help, to add to the help we have already received, would be greatly appreciated."

People can view and bid for the Beckham and Ronaldinho shirts by visiting Tilly's website at www.tillysappealfund.com

They can bid until tomorrow (Thursday) and the highest bid will create the reserve price. If this price is not raised on the night, the on-line bidder will win the item.

Tickets for the auction are £10 and are available from Colin Bailey on 07748 932248 or from the Cherry Tree pub in Queen Street, Warley, where licensees Nicole and Paul Dennis are big supporters of Tilly.

Essex Police is fielding a football team to take on Debenhams Lakeside in a charity match in aid of Tilly at Thurrock Football Club on Sunday March 11 at 7pm.

Organiser PCSO Dave Newman hopes to raise between £2,000 and £3,000.

Tickets can be bought on the gate at Thurrock FC. Contact PCSO Newman on 07828 461198.
